Pre-contact, stone carved Coastal Sepik ancestral figure, 19th century, dark brown aged patina, nice shell armband on figure’s right arm. This archaic figure has a large head slung low over the chest with a broad pierced nose, pierced ears and swept back eyes; hands rest at the hips and the feet are flexed inwards. The figure has a calm but ready expression, sturdy composition and a surface perfect for its age and stone-tooling.
